The search engine on my website allows some very complex database searches. Keywords can be used on their own or combined with logical operators eg. dog and cat, or with text eg. dog and "big head".
To optimise your searching, try :
- searching on subject name or species (including latin names) eg. barn owl, Tyto alba
- searching on time of year or historical period eg, spring, ancient, roman
- searching on location, characteristics eg. somerset, kilve, shiny
- searching on emotional content eg. dramatic, peaceful, dull
- using singular and plurals
- remembering that keywords are not case sensitive
I have created a collection of predefined searches for some common locations and subjects to get you started and it is possible to perform more advanced searches on such things as image orientation (portrait, landscape etc.), date ranges, within specified galleries, and to present the results in a defined order. You can even search by the predominant colour of an image to match your publication theme or decor.
Each image can be viewed as part of a gallery slideshow or individually as large comping images together with information regarding licensing, what property/model releases and purchase options are available. A selection of images can be grouped together in a lightbox for closer review prior to purchase and there is also a ‘Request a quote’ option if you do not see your requirements shown.
To view my images at their best, I recommend that you check that your monitor is displaying images at the correct level of brightness - as normally they are set to be far too bright. Unless you have a professional calibration device (most photographers do now !), you can make simple adjustments to the brightness and contrast settings of your monitor using the greyscale chart below as a guide.
Here, the shades of grey range from pure black to pure white. You should be able distinguish each of the individual shades and yet the ends should remain black and white. If not, then please set your monitor‘s contrast setting to 100% and then adjust the brightness level until you can - this is usually somewhere between 10-40%.
Registered users can select images from different galleries and collate them together in a ‘lightbox’.
- up to ten different lightboxes can be created per user
- change the order of images in your lightbox by dragging and dropping
- view your selected images in sequence in a slideshow
- a lightbox can be emailed to a friend or colleague
- a lightbox can be printed as a pdf contact sheet
The registration process is simple and only takes a few seconds to enter your name and contact details. Please click here if you would like to register.
Unregistered visitors can send a free ePostcard of any image together with a short message by email, directly from this site to your friends. This option can be found on the image detail page.
When purchasing electronic images, you will be asked to specify your intended use and to agree that the image(s) will be used soley for that purpose. My full licensing terms & conditions can be found
here. Electronic images will not have a copyright watermark as shown on this website.
