VIEW UPDATE HISTORY

NEWS
July 2007
The last few months have been my busiest ever. Not only has the weather been good for photography, but there have been a large number of events to attend.

One of the these was the Somerset Willow Fair, where I exhibited in Taunton. This annual event promotes all aspects of the willow industry and I have a particular interest in this subject since I live in the heart of the Somerset Levels where this industry is prevalent.

In early Spring, I visited several local willow growers to capture them preparing the willow, or withies as they are called locally, for use in the making of furniture, garden hurdles and other decorative ornaments. Many of these practises have not changed for generations.

Some more of these images can be seen in the Somerset Willow gallery.

By kind permission of Serena de la Hey, I have taken a collection of images of the Willow Man a landmark of the South West. This sculpture was built in 2001 and stands 12 metres high. It is covered entirely in willow.

A trip to the Bath and West Show allowed the opportunity for this picture of the famous French ornithologist Christian Moullec flying with his reared White Fronted Geese siblings. He has spent years training different species of geese to fly alongside his microlight and he made a rare appearance as 'mother goose' at the show, flying above the crowds.

I have also been asked by a local Business Park to take some images for use with a variety of advertising material. This is an ongoing project and has seen me clambering up towerblocks and being harnessed to roof-tops with my tripod in order to take views of the park and its environment. Finally, I have now restructured my web galleries. Images are now displayed on their own web page rather than in a pop-up window, together with available size information. This new format will make it easier to find and add images and it also means that I can now make them larger. Many more images have been added and you will be able to follow progress on what has changed recently by visiting my last updated page.
